Did you know that the irritated Dinosaur lived in what is now called Brazil? It was part of the spinosaurid Genus.
It was thought to have been called irritator because, funnily enough, palaeontologists were getting “irritated” by the damage that was done to its skull fossil by illegal dinosaur collectors. Also dealers used car body filler to strengthen the snout so scientists had to spend a lot of time fixing it.
The skull was sold a lot in Brazil illegally by dealers and they wanted to make it look more alive which is sad because they ruined the fossil.
It was also thought that the Tyrannosaurus Rex was also afraid to provoke the irritator dinosaur.
Well this irritator dinosaur looks like it is a relative of the Spinosaurus. It could have been close in terms of being related. Although this dinosaur group was not very well known due to the limited fossil material. This guy was also closely related to the Baryonyx, and Suchomimus. Palaeontologists sometimes compare the behaviour of these since they are quite similar in image and all classed in the semi-aquatic group.
